Training Doulas. Transforming Birth.
Student Birth Workers was founded in 2024 to mobilize college students who are passionate about birth justice to enact real change in their communities. Student Birth Workers aims to increase access to doulas across New York City by offering free training to college students. Funded by Barnard College’s inaugural Reproductive Health Grant, Student Birth Workers partnered with Ancient Song Doula Servies and trained twenty-five Barnard College students to become certified as full-spectrum, community-based doulas. In addition, Student Birth Workers provides education, mentorship, and pre-professional support to college students interested in careers in birth work, including midwifery.
