Erin Donahue
Erin is a fourth-generation New Yorker and Junior at Barnard College majoring in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. After leaving her engineering program in 2022, she discovered a passion for childbirth and began attending homebirths with a Brooklyn-based midwife. She has published articles through Columbia University on the safety of homebirth and the role of midwives in improving birth outcomes in the United States. She founded Student Birth Workers to connect students who are passionate about birth and reproductive justice with women seeking quality, accessible doula care. She hopes to become a certified nurse midwife and dreams of one day opening a holistic birth center. When not studying or attending births, she enjoys knitting and cuddling with her cat, Mr. Cornelius.

Lily Hupfel
Lily was born and raised in New York City and is currently in her last semester at Barnard College. Lily shadowed numerous physicians and midwives, attending 27 births, before earning her Full Spectrum Doula Certification through Ancient Song in November 2023. Rooted in a passion for reproductive and birth justice, Lily is driven by her aspiration to become a midwife. Through extensive academic studies on maternal health, racial health disparities, and healthcare policy, Lily is fueled by a commitment to empowering individuals through informed, compassionate, and equitable care.

Michaela Tero
Michaela is a senior at Barnard majoring in Neuroscience & Behavior with a minor in Feminist/Intersectional Science and Technology Studies. Both her personal life and academic experiences have led her to a particular interest in supporting fleshed out systems and methods of care. She enjoyed training with Ancient Song because of their deep commitment to birth equity and bodily autonomy. In the future, she hopes to work in medical advocacy in some capacity.

Mariam Sikiru
Mariam is a native New Yorker and is currently a student at Barnard College majoring in Religion with a double minor in Educational Studies & Political Science. She desires to further educate herself on ways to help combat the inequities prevalent within the Healthcare industry. Mariam aims to be a form of representation for those who seek out the services of a doula and an advocate for reproductive justice and doula services for all regardless of their socioeconomic status. Mariam aspires to become a Midwife. While she is not studying or in class, she spends time volunteering in a neighboring hospital near campus in the pediatrics wing.

Erin Su
Originally from Taipei, Taiwan, Erin is a student at Barnard College pursing a degree in Biochemistry. Inspired by the strong female role models in her life, Erin wants to be an advocate for women and their support system, and to foster an environment of care and comfort in which women are able to find and strengthen their confidence. Having always gravitated towards women’s health and the magic of childbirth, she hopes to one day become an OBGYN. When she isn’t studying, Erin also loves to dance, act, and bake.
Erin is fluent in Mandarin.

Riane Bradbury-Huang
Riane is a sophomore at Barnard College majoring in psychology, with a minor in biology. She has a strong background in comprehensive youth sexuality education and reproductive justice. She also has a strong interest in Women’s Health and is always seeking out new ways to improve client-centered care and integrate traditional practices with perpetually evolving healthcare techniques. She aspires to pursue a career as a physician in Women’s Health, and is really enjoying her current practice in full spectrum doula work with Ancient Song and learning about midwifery.

Susana Crane Ruge
Susana is a Sophomore at Barnard Majoring in Urban Studies with an Architecture concentration, and minoring in Education. Arriving in New York from Bogotá, Colombia, her passion for women's health, menstrual justice and holistic health consolidated with the Full Spectrum Doula training. She has always been interested and active in women's health, specializing in menstrual health and cyclic routines. As a doula, she is passionate about connecting with future parents who look to connect with their bodies and babies in ways that foster love and deep emotional understanding and connection.
